Lipstick and Leather: On The Road With The World's Most Notorious Rock Stars
Kim Hawes is a force of nature, and this is her story! Kim has worked in the music industry for over four decades with some of the biggest and baddest bands in the world.
She comes to the Old Woollen to introduce her new book, Lipstick and Leather, a rollercoaster ride of Rock n Roll anecdotes, which also showcases the serious side of touring and the struggles that Kim faced in a male-dominated industry.
She has toured with Black Sabbath as they unleashed Heaven & Hell on the world; thrown Madonna off stage; turned down Courtney Love; said no to Nelson Mandela; and dealt with the aftermath of Chumbawamba drenching the deputy PM John Prescott.
There are tales of Sex, Drugs and Rock n Roll, debauchery and flights, bags full of cash and Hells Angels... There's even something thrown out of a hotel window. She also spent 10 years sleeping underneath Lemmy from Motorhead... On a tour bus, that is.
This is Kim's uncompromising story - warts and all!
Following the talk and Q&A, there will be the opportunity to purchase the book for signing by Kim.
